Live jazz with Barbara Paris (vocals) and Keith Waters (piano)
(Suggested Donation: $10.00)

Join us for Valentine's Day from 6:00 - 8:00 for an evening of lively conversation, light refreshments, and live jazz with vocalist Barbara Paris and pianist Keith Waters.

Barbara Paris grew up in a musical family and as a child played violin, piano, and then guitar. Paris gained early experience as a folksinger while a teenager, but soon discovered jazz. She was encouraged by Eddie Shu, a tenor axophonist formerly with Gene Krupa, and Claude Tissendier, a saxophonist with Claude Bolling's Orchestra. She worked in Europe with Tissendier and for five years off and on with pianist Joe Bonner in Colorado. Barbara Paris has recorded three fine CDs for her Perea label and is a welcome fixture in the Colorado jazz scene, occasionally singing on both the East and West Coasts and in Europe.

Keith Waters is Professor at the College of Music of the University of Colorado at Boulder. As a jazz pianist, he has recorded and performed throughout the United States, Europe, and in Russia, and has performed in concert with James Moody, Bobby Hutcherson, Eddie Harris, Chris Connor, Meredith D’Ambrosia, Sheila Jordan and others. While living in Washington DC, he was a frequent performer at Blues Alley and the Kennedy Center. He has authored several books on jazz, including The Studio Recordings of the Miles Davis Quintet 1965-68 and Jazz: The First Hundred Years.
